BT FREESTYLE 750 Dect cordless phone says rechargeable batteries are dead when they are not!

Hello All,

I have a BT Freestyle 750 that has worked well for several years.

Over time, I have replaced the rechargeable batteries but now, no matter what I do, the handset says the batteries are depleted.

I have checked the batteries, charging them them in a "nitecore" specialist charger. They show 1.45 volts.

I have another set of batteries that also show 1.45 volts

Whatever batteries I put in, they handset acts like the batteries are depleted.

These are NEW batteries and specifically for DECT handsets. These same batteries have worked fine for several months until the last week or so. The problem he does not appear to be the batteries.

Can anyone suggest anything?!

Hi mcmorj and welcome to the community.

Thanks for posting about your Freestyle 750. I'm sorry you're having problems. How old is the phone? Is it still under warranty? You can find help and contact details on the Freestyle 750 help pages.

Cheers

David

Re: BT FREESTYLE 750 Dect cordless phone says rechargeable batteries are dead when they are not!

Hello

We have five of these handsets, two at home and three in our office, four out of five are showing the same problems, the batteries are fully charged but the phones all indicate low battery. They are not in warranty as they would be at least 5 years old, I would guess that there is an underlying issue with the handset that makes it fail this was, disappointing really. Can you advise anything else to overcome this problem?

Have you replaced the re-chargeable batteries, as they only last a couple of years. The charge indication is never reliable on most cordless phones, as it only indicates voltage, and not the actual capacity of the batteries.

Yes the batteries have all been replaced by the BT recommended ones

The phones all indicate low battery and indeed the phone dies after a few minutes although the batteries are fully charged, I am an electrical engineer by the way.

Sorry, there is nothing else I can suggest.
