I have a BT2600 trio. The handsets are now showing the following message ' please check the line cord'.
There are no calls in or out on the phones.
My wifi is still working.
Any suggestions as to what could be the problem please.

You probably have one wire disconnected on the external network. Broadband will still work with one wire disconnected, but the phone will not.
Its a good idea to check with another phone, at the test socket, before reporting the fault to BT on 0800 800 151.
