BT4600 Answer Machine and Call protect

I recently bought a twin BT4600,   Very similar to my previous phone except for the addition of the Call  locking menu. I don’t have 1571 or Call Guardian. I found that no messages could be left on my answering machine unless I turned BT Call blocking on. Now I am finding that no number that is already in my contacts is able to leave a message on the answering machine. The phone rings out. This is not the case for unknown numbers where the answer machine works as designed though the caller hears the BT message rather than the one I have recorded. Do I have a fault with my phone or have I activated some setting that overrides the answer machine?

@marianmacleod it sounds like you don't have the answering machine facility turned on.

Check out page 53 of the userguide for more info.

Maybe it does sound like that but I wouldn’t have overlooked something so obvious.

Re: BT4600 Answer Machine and Call protect

If a number is not on my contacts and goes through screening then the caller can leave a message. If the number is in my contacts then the phone rings out
