BT8500 Answerpnone

My BT8500 has worked perfectly for 3 years or more but suddenly the answerphone has started to stop working correctly.

If someone ON my address list calls and I am out the phone will just ring and ring and the answerphone will not take the call.

If someone who is NOT on my contact list calls and I am out,  the phone goes to answerphone correctly after 4 rings.

This problem seems to have started after signing up to  a new BT contract a couple of weeks ago.

Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks

What has probably happened, is that Caller Display has been removed from your account when you renewed your contract.

Caller display is needed for the phone to work properly.

Can you please check to see if  Caller Display is switched on by entering the code * # 234 #. If it's active you'll get the message Caller identity will be displayed.

If its not, then it can be added free of change using this link.

BT Privacy and caller display, is near the top of the options on that screen.
