BT8500 advanced call blocker

Go to solution

Hello all,

I bought and am using a BT8500 advanced call blocker.

I would like to stop any calls from withheld numbers and found this page from a google search.

On page 5, Anonymous call rejection I input the star 227 hash but get a message saying "this service is not available".

Any help would be appreciated.

That would be a function of the phone, assuming you have caller display on your line?

If you want to stop the calls actually reaching your line, then you have to pay a monthly fee to BT, for Anonymous Call Rejection.

Thank-you for the replies.

I looked and I do have free caller display on my line activated for 12 months, ending in march 2016.

I also see that anonymous call rejection is £5.40 a month.

So go into Call Guardian Custom mode and set it to do what you want.

See page 20 of the manual.

I have not got or paid for anonymous call rejection.

I did not realise it was an extra charge and money is tight.

You don't need to pay extra to stop any calls from withheld numbers. As long as you have Caller Display, which you say you have, the phone can be set to do it. Read the manual page I referred to.
