Bt4600 Erratic Crackling

Go to solution

A couple of months ago I bought a triple pack of BT4600 phones for my mother.  Almost from the beginning she had complained of the phones crackling.  We never had any problems with the phones that we replaced.

The crackling doesn't happen with every phone call but enough to be a nuisance.  It occurs with more than one of the phones.  Today was the first time I had a chance to hear the crackling which is why I am only just posting about it.  I've had several checks on the phone line and there is no problem with that at all.

Is this a known problem with the BT4600?

There could be an intermittent line fault causing the noise, but it may be difficult to locate.

Who provides her phone and broadband service?

Sky supply both.  The previous phones did not crackle.  I have also run at least 5 checks on her line via Sky.

Its possible that there is a problem with broadband signal getting into the phones..

As this is a BT Retail customer forum, you would have to take up the issue with Sky, as you may have a faulty microfilter in the property, or a faulty broadband filter in the Sky equipment.

Modern digital phones are more susceptible to this problem.
