First take the batteries out of the base handset, then wait about a minute, then put them back in. See if that helps.
How old are the phones?
Thanks, already tried several times, including new batteries. My next shot is to try the old unplug and put the the plug back in. Not tried that one yet. You know, technology is great when it’s working properly or you have the knowledge. But when it isn’t and you do not have that knowledge, it can be a pain. 😁😁 I am 71 but learning all the time Keith. Thanks again and hope your household have nice Christmas and New year. Thanks 🎄🎄
I think you have probably tried all the other things I would have suggested, including replacing the rechargable batteries.
Have you tried swapping the handsets over to see if the base handset works on the extension charger base, just in case there is an issue with the base unit charger?
It could well be a hardware/software issue with that handset, there are places that do sell additional handsets which you could pair up with your existing base. Look on a well known auction site, as it may be worth a try.
Hi. Problem with 8500 base handset sorted, by me. I had not used the proper rechargeable batteries. And you must use the batteries specified in the handbook and all is now well. I’m a happy bunny. Still, my best wishes to BT Customer Support Ennerskillen. The Best. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 All of have a Great Christmas and New Year.
Thank you for posting back. I'm glad your been able to get the 8500 working.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
