Managed to get the next test done:
- the bt blacklist disabled
- the personal blacklist disabled
- sending withheld numbers to junk
- sending unrecognised numbers to junk
- sending international numbers to junk
The result was the same. He could call me from his mobile but his landline went straight to the junk voice mail. So even with the blacklists disabled, the call is filtered.
Tomorrow I will go into my account and cancel the feature, see if that helps.

So we did the final test just now.
I had removed the Call Protect package from my account, and verified I could no longer access 1572.
He can now call me from his landline in Germany, and can still call from his mobile.
So I guess it demonstrates an inconsistency with Call Protect, if not an actual defect. That at least this one landline in Germany cannot call me when Call Protect is subscribed, regardless of the configuration settings.
Thanks for all the help given above, but I think for now I will leave it off my account, as reliable contact from family abroad is more important than dealing with junk calls.
Hi. In theory your settings are correct, so if you think some international calls are not getting through then you are experiencing the same bug as I did. The only solution I found was to go into my Products and completely remove the Call Protect feature.
there has been no response or acknowledgement from the Mods or from BT, so this is just my assertion that the feature is not working as intended.
Hi
thanks for your reply, that sounds perfect but when I go into my products I can only change my call plans or manage protect settings which doesn’t give me the option to cancel the service just...the tick list again
Yes, it took me a while to work it out.
The page you are on is just for configuring Call Protect once it is enabled.
You need to go to where you view your Broadband, TV, and Mobile products, where it shows you how much you pay monthly.
Then select Manage Landline, and Look for Your Landline Features.
You should see Call Protect with a Manage button.
Click that, and it should take you into the Order process.
You should then be able to uncheck Call Protect.
Complete the order process and it should remove in 24 hours.
