Communication between Openreach - BT and Me

Go to solution

On Saturday an engineer came to investigate a noisy line. He said the line between my house and the road would need replacing. Since that time I have been getting increasingly frustrated I have had no contact from anyone to arrange when they would come and do the work, someone has called and dug up the area between my house and my neighbour but where it used to be a graveled it is now a muddy strip because they didn't remove the gravel before they dug the trench for the conduit. Surely this should have been returned to the condition it was found in?

Someone did called me today to tell me I wasn't in when they called and I need to contact my service provider to rearrange but left me no number. When I do dig around and find a number I'm told it's going to cost me 15p per minute and I can't use my home phone it's out of action.

I need some communication about whats happening including the restoration of my drive to it's previous state.

Thank you,

Rob

Hi

As mentioned you would need to contact your service provider, if it is BT you can call them on 0330 123 4151, you can call this from a mobile although not free it would use any of your mobile monthly minutes. or you could call on 0800 800 151 from a payphone or any landline (for free)

(If I have helped you in any way please click the thumbs up. Thank You)

Re: Communication between Openreach - BT and Me

I still have two issues outstanding an am now ten days without a functioning phone and degraded broadband service.

I called BT from work on Friday, they said they'd arrange an engineers visit. I haven't heard a thing from anyone.

I cannot bear to call this line again and be told 'let me do a line test', 'there is no fault on your line' and 'if you insist on an engineer coming to your property and the fault is with your equipment you could be charged £130' and then for no one to show up.

To save reading back on my thread;

Openreach contractors have dug a trench in my drive and put in a length of conduit so someone (openreach?) can pull through and install a new undamaged cable to my house. No one was in when someone turned up to do this (we could have had someone there if anyone had bothered to tell us). I was then left a cryptic message from someone about calling someone to get this rearranged. I'm assuming it's BT and I have contacted them and no one has come back to me.  So far I've spent just over an hour trying to resolve this and when I've factored in the time I'm going to have to spend putting my drive back to the condition it was in before it was dug up by openreach (purchase and distribution of two bags of gravel) BT will owe me (BT rates) £360 plus the rebate for being with out the service I'm paying for.

Since the 12th I have been contacted once to tell me that someone would be in touch. That was 2days ago.

Okay my trials seem to be over now. An engineer called this morning and pulled a new cable through and I'm all reconnected. just need to get reinbursed for the outage and spend a morning making good the mess made of my drive.
