Moving House

Hi

 I am trying to find out if moving house in the same town can my original number be taken with me the area has my number starting with and going to an area with a number starting 64 in Eastbourne.

If you move within the same exchange area then yes you can take your number with you

Hi John46,

 The number at moment starts with 73 and where moving to is 64 so I would think not but I know that there are exchange boxes at the end of most roads and I'm sure it will be a different one.

it is not the street cabinet you are connected that has the number the number is allocated to the telephone exchange the street cabinet is just a connection point for all local cables

The main thing is whether or not you will be on the same exchange.  If so, they can just swap things round and you get to keep the number.  If it's a different exchange, even with the same STD code, you get a new number.
