Moving to a care home

Good morning

My aged Great Aunt has been moved to a residential care home following a period of illness. She hopes to move back home in the future however realistically that may but happen.

I am in the process of trying to suspend all of her utility accounts so she is not paying for a service she will not use.
She is not well enough to deal with the service providers herself - which is probably the saddest part as not 6 months ago she was as sharp as a knife and racing through the Telegraph cryptic crossword before breakfast at the ripe old age of 96!!

The best advice is generally from forums like these....So...


1. What info / account status do I need to speak to BT
2. Can I suspend the service or will I need to cancel and reinstate in the future

@jackpot46 Welcome to this user forum.

 

I have asked a moderator to provide assistance, they will post an invite on this thread.
They are the only BT employees on this forum, and are based in the UK.

 

 

I expect the account will need to be closed, and a new one created at a later date.

@jackpot46 Welcome to the community and thanks for posting, I'm sorry to hear your Great Aunt's health has declined recently.  

 

We'd need to cancel the service if it's not needed and then it can be restarted in the future.  If you use the 'click here to contact the mods' link in my forum profile to send in your Great Aunts BT account details we'll be able to help. You can find the link by clicking on my username.

I only have the phone number, name and address - will that be enough information?

@jackpot46 I think @NeilO will need the full details. If you look on a recent phone bill, the account number should be there.

Nothing will be closed. Are you able to see the "contact the mods link"?
