No phone or broadband

Sadly I'm writing this on my mobile phone so I can't go into as much detail but I'll try my best. Yesterday I suddenly lost internet and noticed my router had an orange flight with a flashing red 'b'. I ran the checks which my browser asked me to do which involved testing the phone line and I have an engaged dial tone running all the time. If I call the phone it rings but the call isn't going through. Today I bought a new phone and have the same problem (no out or incoming calls + engaged tone)
I've done the test socket test at the master socket and still the issue persists. Is there anything else I can do to make sure the problem isn't something I've done. My car insurance needs paying this month and I really could do without an engineer charge.

If the fault is at the test socket then no charge should be raised as it is on the Openreach network
