PHONE SCAM !

Go to solution

FYI.

Landline rang at 09.08. Recorded Announcement.
"BT Landline & Broadband Outage. How to stay Connected", went through twice.

Ringing tone.
A male voice then introduces himself as BT, and starts with "Is this your line . . ."
I stopped him there, with "HOW DO I KNOW THIS AIN'T A SCAM !" He hung up.
THAT'S HOW I KNOW IT'S A SCAM.

1471. Comes back with 07775846678.
Submitted a BT SCAM CALLS ticket.

 It all fits this scenario:-
Your broadband service.
We'll never call and:

  • Tell you your router or IP address has been compromised
  • Tell you your broadband has been hacked
  • Threaten to disconnect your service unless you make a payment immediately.

Nil illegitimi carborundum. CP.

CTT. (continuing the thread)

The Scammers have rung back.
Same 'Silly Announcement'
Different phone number. 07712662859. 10.36am

Looks like BT Call Protect, 1572 needs a visitation.

They really think you must be daft ?
I wonder what excitement, the next few hours hold.
I'll fool 'em. I'll go out shopping !

Every chance these are not genuine phone numbers and that they have been generated via the internet (spoofing).
