When I answer my phone it keeps ringing instead of answering, also if I ring out it does the dial tone but dosent ring out. I've tried plugging my phone into the bt master socket and also tried different phone but still no luck

This sounds like a faulty line card in the exchange.

Have you reported the fault yet?

Yes tried different phone and phoned bt but they say nothing is wrong with phone line to house. So want to check everything before I get an engineer out

It will not show up on a line test as its an exchange fault.

BT would need to get an Openreach engineer to the exchange, and move your line onto a different Equipment Number, as they would not change a line card unless all the ports were faulty.

They normally just move you to a different line card.

This type of fault is very common, as all of the exchange equipment is very old and the relays contacts get stuck together.

Just report it as continuous ringing of the phone, hopefully the script that they follow, will guide then in the right direction.

If you need to call on a mobile then use 0800 800 150.

If you have any problems getting it fixed, then please post back here.
