Hello, from over 2 months I have the same problem , I am losing my internet connection and when I have it , it is really really slow ( 80kb/s) before the problem it was 2.5mb/s . I can hear a lots of cracks during phone calls and that`s probably affecting my internet speed. My broadband provides is virgin and phone is BT. I was calling virgin and BT more than 100 times and one company is sending me back to another. aaaa that`s really annoying. I `ve check the line couple of time , and I had visit from BT Engineer, he changed the socket and check the line. He said it is ok but it`s not because I still can hear the noise etc. I am desperateeeee...;/ .. I have spent almost 100 pounds to change all the cables, filters and I have even bought a new router and it is still the sameeee... then I have figured out that problem first occurred around the time when my neighbor set up his line and broadband, maybe engineer who installed the line and broadband for him done something wrong or cut some cable , or made my cable shorter I don't know , but a really need help, I am working trough internet and it is really essential for me to have a good fast internet... PLEASEEE HELPPPP
Any noise on line will destroy your adsl connection the system sees noise as a line fault and will reduce your speed to achieve a stable connection
enter for homehub for other routers a different ip will be needed
192.168.1.254 in browser click A to Z top right
then ADSL enter pas and click MORE DETAIL
Also post results of test at ( best done from master test socket)
Have you tried a quite line test
dial 17070 option 2 and listen - should hear nothing
best done with old type analogue phone digital will do but may have slight hiss
do not use home hub phone
connect hub into master socket
leave on 24 7
and report fault as a PHONE LINE fault not adsl fault to BT
I would also post in the BB AT HOME forum
not sure if that`s it ?
It is connected to the test socket,
I`ve dialled 17070 option 2 n I can hear the noise,
done speed tester bt , couple of times in different times , average speed do not exceed 120kb/s
Report noisy line to BT Customer Service i THINK ITS 151 FROM A BT LINE
If you are getting noise on the line as mentioned this is why you are getting probs with the BB.
You will need to prove that the problem is not within your house as it could be something like faulty wiring or a faulty ADSL filter.
have a check here on how to do some simple checks, you would then need to report the fault if you believe the problem tobe on the line, as mentioned do not say you are having BB problems, just say you are having noisy line problems
To report a fault call 151 or 0800 800 151
