Phone not ringing

Go to solution

Since having Infinity installed I’m have a problem with one of my phones

a BT Converse 300 it will not ring in any of the extensions, other than the non ringing it works ok.

If I plug the phone into the face plate of the master socket it will then ring and work as normal.

My other corded phone works ok any where its plug in.

The phone extensions are wired into and behind the master socket.

This phone was working fine plugged into the extension before Infinity was installed.

I have phoned the help desk and there answer is if there is nothing wrong with

the engineers wiring I will be charged for the visit £100 + so there advice was fix it

yourself.

Its quite possible that your existing extensions were wired up wrong before Infinity was installed.

This picture shows how things should be connected.

The extension wiring would be connected to the removable bottom section. Some old phones still need the bell wire connected as well.

Do you still have one of the adsl filters? Try plugging the phone in via one of those.

Re: Phone not ringing

If the extensions were working fine before the infinity install and there not now it is possible a wire has come off the back of the faceplate on the nte ( master socket) blue with white rings should connect to terminal 2 and white with blue rings should connect to terminal 5. no other wires need connecting. dont go plugging any adsl filters in you wont need them when you already have a filtered faceplate.

Re: Phone not ringing

If either the blue or white of blue wire is off then not only would the phone not ring but the OP would not have a dial tone.

A filter contains a ringing capacitor and can (and has) solved many a problem with either a fault on the ring wire (needed in many older type phones) or where the wire has been removed to cure some line speed issues.

It will not have any detrimental effect on the BB.

Well done Devon_Dave you fixed it for me, plugged in a filter at the extension socket and it now rings loud and clear.
