Who is responsible for the allocation of premium rate numbers ??
I ask this as we recently had a notice posted in our Old Folks Home warning about a scam that, if the number was contacted, there would be a charge of £315 to the phone bill of whoever called the number ( residents have their own phone line(s).
I know that I can block calls to premium rate numbers from my phone but it's not everyone who does it.
Does whoever allocates, and presumably receives some payment for, premium rate numbers not have a responsibility ???
Hello Ectophile, Thanks for the reply. I don't really know if the notice is correct or not, I just found it alarming. Looking at the link you provided shows that the maximum charge is £1.65/minute. From that it would appear that this notice, and other comments elsewhere about excessive charges are not true. Cheers..
