Re: Call Protect & BT Guardian phones

Go to solution

I have the same problem with "witheld" numbers, as a few of my friends have them, are they able to remove this witheld function??

Also I agree about NHS numbers, I had recently to switch Guardian off whilst waiting for hospital appointments as they are loathed to leave recorded messages.

Since switching Guardian back on some of my friends in my contact list now have to announce themselves??

is there any way of restoring the Guardian features??

Also my regular "International Call" now rings and the answer phone kicks in,though no message left. Prior to this they didn't get through at all.

Do I have to go to my BT account and re-activate Guardian? A.

I have moved your post to a new thread, so you can get help from the community.

Your friends can ask their service provider to allow their numbe to be displayed on outgoing calls.

"witheld" numbers - I have asked my friend who has an across the board "witheld" with BT to input 1470 before my number in her contact list / address book on her phone - this allows a once only cancellaton of witheld so my phone picks up her CLI number.

Re: Call Protect & BT Guardian phones

With no replies on this board I took the time and trouble to call BT yesterday.

After a length of time when supervisors had to be contacted, I was told that I had to clear my contacts list and enter them all again. Pathetic!!

Needless to say I have again switched Guardian off, but all calls coming to me now say "No Number"??

Even worse than before - pretty poor really!

Would love someone at BT who knows what is going on to give me a call. A.

If the calls are coming in as no number, then it means that caller display is no longer active on your phone line.

Check it's switched on by entering the code * # 234 #.

Re: Call Protect & BT Guardian phones

Thanks for that Keith, I checked that number and it said caller display was switched off.

I rang BT (Newcastle - hooray) and she confirmed that it was switched off, so has put it back on.

She said that it had been switched off in December when I switched Guardian off on my 8630? phone.

So awaiting caller display to come back and hopefully all will be well.

Thanks again A.

Re: Call Protect & BT Guardian phones

Call Guardian should not affect caller display as they are not connected.  Its more likely that it was not added if you recently renewed you contract for any reason. This does happen, but you can always check this yourself via MyBT.

There is a monthly charge for caller display, but its free if you renew it each year.

Re: Call Protect & BT Guardian phones

Yes I think you are correct Keith.

I usually pay my line rental in advance, but for some reason I opted not to do it this year??? in December.

So I think that was the time my Caller Display packed up.

I agreed to pay it in advance again this morning and as you say Caller Display is now free as opposed to £1.75 p.m.

It was working correctly again about 1/2 hour ago.

Thanks again Keith, the code you gave me to call was very helpful.

Please mark this as solved because I can't see the link. A
