Re: Overhead cable broken and Openreach won't fix it

Like you, I have had another problem with the reaction of Openreach to some reported faults.

I have had a radio interference problem which gradually worsened over eighteen  months and is caused by  noise radiated from the overhead ADSL2  broadband cables passing my house. I am a licensed Radio Amateur and my Shortwave radio reception has been seriously degraded by the noise level of the interfering signals. Originally there were no noise interference problems so it looks like a fault has developed.

I have had Openreach engineers trying to locate the fault which they agree exists but they have had to refer this to their overhead line specialists who have not made contact with me and the problem is still there.

I have now had to resort the making an official complaint to Ofcom a few days ago.

Ofcom have told me that they have asked Openreach to investigate but they (Openreach) have said that this is not a priority as no users/ customers are affected. Personally, I think that any person or organisation operating a system that interferes with my or anyone else's reception is a very high priority issue.

I am hoping that their attitude to the way that Openreach  are handling these types of problem will soon be addressed at the highest level within their organisation.

You would have been better starting your own thread. I'm not aware of an overhead specialist team.
Who supplies your phone service?

Hi,  my provider is BT. The local Openreach engineers told me that there is a specialist team for these issues.

I took my complaint to Ofcom who contacted Openreach with the details of the problem. Openreach told Ofcom about the problem. Openreach told Ofcom that as I was not  a user/customer it would be looked into on a low priority basis. Ofcom then closed the file on 14 Dec. No date given for resolution of problem but if it does not happen soon Ofcom have said that they will re-open the case and keep putting pressure on Openreach.

@HowardB3 I have moved your posts to your own thread as it is just muddying the waters of the thread you hijacked.
