Socket not working

I read I should disconnect wires in the old socket but leave the ones which match the new socket. Then this should work???640F924C-D61D-439A-93E4-499A1EEE8187.jpegOld socket3531BF40-4C9F-476B-A4D8-5BFBEFD7BF1B.jpegNew socket

Re: Socket not working

I only see one cable at the back of the NTE. Where does the cable at the LJU originate from?

Re: Socket not working

Hi,

it is coming out from behind tiles in the kitchen so I don't know sorry.

I read on this site somewhere about disconnecting wires in the kitchen socket to match it with wires in the new BT socket (but they are not the same colours , ie (1 wire has a bit of white and a lot of brown and another a bit of brown and a lot of white and there are only 2 in total)

In the kitchen socket there are 1,2,3,4,5,and 6 all different colours to above

I have bought and old retro phone which definitely works and am really keen to get it plugged into kitchen socket!

Thanks very much for replying..

Re: Socket not working

The cable for the LJU must go somewhere but clearly not to the NTE. It may be Star Wired somewhere or the cable for the LJU has been cut somewhere for all we know.

Without finding out where it originates from though there’s not much we can do.

Re: Socket not working

Do you have any other sockets in the house?

Can you trace where the line comes into the house?
