Spilled water on base of cordless BT Freestyle

My husband spilled some water on the base of our BT Freestyle answering machine/cordless. It has stopped working and the handset shows "searching". we have a corded phone on the same line which is working. This accident happened 2 days ago. Will the phone dry out and be OK?  Is there some way to get it working again without having to buy another phone. Also the no.2 extension (cordless also) is not working.  Anyone help please?

Re: Spilled water on base of cordless BT Freestyle

Electronics aren't normally damaged by water, unless left powered on after they get wet.  If the power is left on, then they can be permanently damaged.

Generally, if something's got wet, then:

1. Disconnect the power immediately (remove the battery if any).

2. Dismantle the unit as much as you feel able.

3. Leave somewhere warm (but don't cook it) until it's completely dry.  If in doubt, leave it longer.
