Who to contact in regards to moving a landline?

Go to solution

Hello, The subject says it all really I would like to know who the first point of contact would be as the master socket in our premises has been in quite an awkward spot since it was first installed (in the hall way near the front door). We're currently having to run cables under a door which isn't ideal at all, and we can't position our phone or modem etc in any different rooms as there's no power sockets near by.

You need to contact your service provider.  There will be a charge and possibly a long wait in the current circumstances.

Ah, okay. So I just have to get in touch with BT and they'll explain all the charges involved etc and yeah I understand they'll be some delays until things are relaxed due to the current situation involving the virus. Thanks for the information I'll get in touch with them about it as soon as things return to some kind of normality.

You could also check your local paper for a telecom engineer and get master moved cheaper than openreach and probably sooner

Thank you, Sorry for the delay in replying, the engineer fixing the fault mentioned in the other thread did state OR would charge around 130-150, so I will definitely look into this as a cheaper alternative.
