Why will it take a month to fix a landline problem

Go to solution

Problem reported on 10 Dec.

Allocated to engineer on 19 Dec.

Marked as closed on 19 Dec still no service

151 re-opened fault

BT booked engineer visit for 20 Dec, Engineer failed to show.

Lines man sighted on 21 Dec who remembered coming to problem 2 years ago and suggest running line from front of house to cabinet at end of street rather than one over a mile away.

BT fault desk phoned and said problem would be fixed on 22 Dec

24 Dec BT phone to say problem fixed as they were calling on my landline number. BT had put phone onto divert to mobile. Eventually agreed that the line was still not working after trehy contacted OpenReach.

Said next working day for linesman would be 4 Jan.

While I accept that linemen need their Christmas as well this is getting a bit silly and had issue been addressed within 48 hours of first report I and the rest of my street might have a service now.

And, what is the point of the Indian call center, they clearly have idea about what is actually happening with the fault and it's status.

House fully of grumpy teenagers who feel their human rights have been violated.

Hi @Spinniker Sorry that the fault with your line has not been repaired yet.

As the issue is affecting the rest of your street I suspect that a cable is damaged and needs repaired or replaced. We will be happy to help you with the repair of your line if you send us your details. You can contact us by clicking on my user name and selecting contact the mods.

Thanks
John

Update 27 Dec.

Left info for Mods as requested in previous post, no reply, by it was Christmas.

Checked online fault tracker to find that fault had been closed over the christmas period.

Spoke to call center who told me that as they had not been able to contact me by dialing the defective landline number they had closed the fault.

Does anyone at BT actually think through issues? If thay cannot contact the customer on the landline which has a fault reported on it, it probably means that the landline is still defective, not that the telephone fairies have fixed it.

Come on BT time to get your act together.

Hi @Spinniker,

I'm sorry the fault was closed without the service being repaired. I've had a look at our email queue and can see that we have your details. There are a few cases ahead of you in the queue and we'll reply as soon as we can.

Thanks

Hi @Spinniker,

Thank you for taking my call today. I'm happy to hear that the service was repaired on the 5th of January. Please accept my apology for the delay as I know it took a lot longer than expected to repair your service.

Thanks

PaddyB
