Re: old phone number

if you have moved provider then you need to contact your new provider about the transfer of your old number  As you are no longer a BT retail customer there is nothing that can be done here

If you are now living at the same address, as when you were with BT Retail, then there is no technical reason why you cannot have your original number back.

You would initially have to accept a temporary number, but it should be possible to renumber it back to your original number.

Its possible to get help to do this, via this forum.

If you have moved house, and are not within the catchment area of your original exchange, then it would not be possible.

Re: old phone number

You would need to be a BT Retail customer to get help from the forum but from your initial post you appear to have moved to a new provider and no longer a BT Retail customer

you would need to switch back

That would only be any use if @Maggie1960 is living at the same address.

The normal reason why a number gets lost, it that someone moves from BT Retail, to another provider, and then moves from that provider to another one (Not BT Retail).

As the number did not belong to the first provider, then it would not be possible for it to be ported out again to the second provider, and the number would return to BT Retail.

If they had simply moved from BT Retail, to another provider, then that provider should be able to port the number over without any issue, and it could be ported back to BT Retail again, at the same address.
