BT Home Hub V 3.0

Hi activated my broadband account yesterday and installed the HomeHub v3.0 box.  Have managed to connect 2 Laptops wireless and a wired PS3 connection.  Problem is I cant connect my desktop PC using a wired connection.  on connecting the ethernet cable the response is unidentified network no internet access.  Before yesterday I was using a netgear router with no problem I am using W7 and the network controller is NVidia nforce card - Question is does anyone know if this hub has issues with wired connections?

Re: BT Home Hub V 3.0

did you try all the ethernet ports on the back of the HH3?  is your network card driver up to date?

Re: BT Home Hub V 3.0

Thanks for the swift reply - PS3 is working on a wired connection, also tried swapping round the ports in case one port was down but no success - driver is nvidia nforce net controller and worked fine with my netgear router yesterday

Re: BT Home Hub V 3.0

Have you ever set your desktop PC to have a static IP address?

Connect it back to the hub

open the command prompt (cmd), then type ipconfig

Check the IPv4 Address, what is it showing?

There's your problem

back to cmd, then type ipconfig /release, then ipconfig /renew

then see what happens...

No...

Open Device Manager (start, type device and look for it)
Then Network Adapters - is there a yellow exclamation mark?
If there is, you may need to reinstall and or update the driver

Try going to Network and Sharing Center.

Click on Change Adapter Settings.

Right click the local lan connection icon and select Properties.

Select Internet Protocol Version 4 and then click Properties.

Delete any numbers in the IP address

Click to select to Obtain an IP address automatically.
