Failure notice

[ Edited ]

I keep receiving failure notices although people are receiving the e mail .

It says the following

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

< ***********@hotmail.co.uk>:
65.55.92.184 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 501 Invalid Address
Giving up on 65.55.92.184.

Any help would be greatfully received

Hi. Welcome to the forums. Hope you don't mind me asking a few questions.

Is the address that has been redacted the correct one ?

How are you sending emails, is it via webmail (i.e. a browser) or something like Outlook, Thunderbird or Windows Mail ?

Are you sending to just one recipient, or more than one ?

Re: Failure notice

Hello Andy

Thanks for te welcome

The e mails are being received by the recipients althogh I am receiving a failure notice.

If I send to more than one recipient then I receive a failure notice for te main recipient.

I am sending e mails through Yahoo mail

Not sure what you mean by redacted?

Hi again.

Sorry - I was referring to the email address starred out (probably by the Moderator as it shouldn't really be relayed in a public forum).

It's weird that they are receiving them as well. However there is a space at the start of the starred out email address, is there also a space in the "full" error message ? That may have a bearing.

Re: Failure notice

Yes there appears to be a space in the failure message but not on the e mail address. If I resend from my i phone I do not receive a failure notice but if I resend from the pc I do

Re: Failure notice

Hi again Andy

All of these failure notices are from replies made to incoming e mails not a new e mail. We have holiday lets and these are replies to people making enquiries

That seems weird.

Sorry if I've slightly misunderstood, but are you saying that you are replying to enquiries and you always get the same/similar error response ?

When you send by iPhone, is that logging into BTYahoo! webmail or using an app ?

Is it always from replies rather than new emails ?

Re: Failure notice

Hi Andy

Yes it is when I reply to enquiries that I get the failure response. If I resend copying the e mail address and forwarding te e mail again then I do not get it.

My I phone uses an app for Yahoo mail. I previously had a blackberry and this only seems to have started since having the I phone althogh I do have the same mail on my Ipad and have had for the last year without problems.

I do not get them from new e mails

As youi can see from this report, the full email address isn't being picked up on hitting a "reply" to it (clearly there should be a k at the end).

When you reply to another email, before you hit "Send", see if the full email address is actually being correctly populated.
