True hahah 720p is more like it.
I find it only marginally better than the HD channel.
The quality difference between the two now is very striking.
Sky Sports UHD looks vibrant and what you'd expect from UHD-HDR. TNT Sports Ultimate looks dull and the quality has dropped compared to previous seasons. Quite how Sky can make theirs look really quite impressive with a lower bitrate and a HDR base of HDR10, not using something like HLG is quite something.
TNT uses the same HDR10 profile and a higher bitrate yet it looks poor quality in comparison. I had scepticism when Sky announced they were launching Sky Sports UHD on Now with HDR10 because of the quite poor quality of TNT on Discovery+ - but they've exceeded expectations which begs the question of how are WBD getting this so badly wrong on quality?
I get the impression that WBD aren't that concerned with quality. audio on TNT Sports HD via D+ is still a poor 128kb/s AAC 2.0 track, not the 5.1 Dolby Digital+ you get from Sky Sports HD on Now. So really it shouldn't be a surprise that Now looks and sounds better.
My biggest gripe is that the image on TNT UHD is blurry!! How on earth in 2025 are we being told a broadcast is UHD when it clearly isn’t!
Are you watching the correct channel? Stupid question maybe but I have two 'Ultimate' channels on both my BT boxes. You need to select 'Ultimate HDR'. The other Ultimate (no HDR) is, as you say, very poor. Channel No 465 gives me 4K HDR.
