Switching provider?

I'm not sure where I should be posting this so apologies in advance if I'm in the wrong sub-forum.

I'm considering taking up full fibre from another provider after getting the runaround from BT for 5 months now (long story). Currently I'm in contract for BT Sport with HD/UHD via BT TV on the Pro box. I think I'm correct in assuming I'd lose access to BT Sport were I to cancel the BT broadband service. What I'm wondering is, would BT be likely to allow me to continue my BT Sport contract, without penalty, were I to transfer the Sport package to the online only option instead, whilst also of course paying the difference in price as I believe the online access is more expensive than the BT TV price?

Any insight would be appreciated as I peruse my options going forward.

Re: Switching provider?

I would have thought that it’s the BT TV service that potentially has a minimum term , not BT Sport, so if you change ISP then BTTV cannot exist alone, so early termination charges if applicable would be raised, BT Sport can be ( AFAIK ) added and removed with a months notice ( but admit, I could well be wrong )
I doubt taking the stand-alone BT Sport on line offering would mitigate any ETC liable due to ending BTTV before the end of any minimum term

Re: Switching provider?

I hadn't thought of it like that @iniltous

Looking at it as a BT TV sub (which it is) rather than my thinking of it as a Sport sub then you would be correct.

Guess I'm staying with what I have for now 😒
