TNT Sports cutting off after short time

Accessing TNT Sports on BTTV ( not via discovery+ app as TV is 'too old' to support )

Connection to BT Smart Hub 2 is via BT WiFi disc hardwired into TV

TNT Sports channels have recently been stopping consistently after 4 mins 23 sec +/- 1 sec 

Error IPC6023

This obviously interupts the recording of  TNT Sports programmes - which is a real pain as am trying to record rugby

Change to another TNT Channel - works for same time as above - same error message! 

Go back to original channel - starts up again - then stops after same time

Problem occurs with Eurosport as well, which is in the TNT streaming service available via discovery+.

No issue with accessing TNT sports via discovery+ on  a newer TV,  via the app on phone  or via BT and discovery+  websites on Windows PC.

Ran speed test on MyBT app - getting consistently 22Mb downstream and 9Mb upstream. ( Note 22Mb is less than the guaranteed 32MB for the contracted service - but that is another issue being discussed with BT). We are located 0.5 miles from fibre cabinet and rest is overhead copper.

Any ideas please?

This could possibly be linked to the speeds you are receiving. 

Have you tried resetting your router?

22Mbps should be enough to watch TNT Sports Channels but is slightly on the shy side in my opinion, opening up potential throughput issues. I assume you arent talking about the Ultimate Channel as I believe a minimum of 44Mbps is require before they sell that to you.

Youre going to need to test with ethernet directly to the router to rule out the disc, TNT Sports and the other subscription channels use Multicast, if you are using an aerial to watch normal channels like BBC etc then these wont be effected by the issue you are having.

This exact stop of service after a period of time is usually down to the transmitting device not handling the multicast packets correctly, at the moment I am blaming the BT disc which wont just be serving the TV, it will be serving its WIFI backhaul connection along with any other clients connected to it. Usually with multicast the transmitting device needs to know where to send the packets, I have no idea how well IGMP snooping or related is setup on BT discs, I doubt anyone can tell us. Complete WIFI (Black Discs) I would expect to have some sort of internal functionality to work properly, BT White discs I am pretty sure will not.

Either way, remove the disc, get a giant cable and test directly, in fact if the disc is the problem using the TV boxes inbuilt WIFI may even serve you better so long as its connecting directly to the router....but cable will be the test.
