My gut feeling is that 'Britbox', assuming it launches, won't do very well and will fold. It'll be too late to the market to be a successful player and would lack the somewhat key ingredient which is films.
Didn't the BBC launch a subscription service a while ago and then close it down?
Ah yes, that was it. I still don't see it going very far, there's the fact that nearly all of us pay the license fee and I for one, wouldn't pay any more. Then there's the somewhat staggering news today that the average age for a BBC viewer is over 62, there's a large part of potential streamers lost already.
