Probably because White Hart Lane isn't the most camera-friendly ground; there's a higher position but with the benefit of a stonking great pole in the way. Can't say the the lower angle bothers me though.
Hands off the sun, it doesn't often shine on WHL. You're right about Sky though. Just watched Soton v Chelsea, and the obsession with close-ups was in constant danger of missing some important action as well as being irritating. In-play close-ups rarely add anything to the viewing experience and they should be confined to replays, where they can indeed be very helpful.
