BT Smart Hub 2 for Plusnet ?

I'm a Plusnet fibre (FTTC) subscriber. I would like to buy a BT smart Hub 2 and disc. The price at the BT shop is very expensive for non BT customers but there are a lot on Ebay that are much cheaper.  Can anyone tell be if there are certain models that are/are not locked to BT and which might be better for use with Plusnet.

I currently have a BT Openreach modem

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 for Plusnet ?

@Plusman1

The Smart Hub and Disc will only work for BT Broadband customers, so would be a waste of money.

The BT Whole Home system is suitable for all ISPs,

See https://shop.bt.com/learnmore/bt-branded-products-and-services/bt-whole-home-wi-fi/

There are plenty of other wireless mesh solutions that can also work as a router as well, if its improved coverage you are looking for.

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 for Plusnet ?

Thank you. Will earlier Smart Hubs work for me ?

I'm looking at an item on Ebay advertised BT Smart Hub Home Hub 6 Superfast Fibre FTTC & ADSL Dual Wireless AC

(MPN 084316). This is much cheaper than the current Smart Hub advertised at the BT shop

Would that work with Plusnet FTTC ?

Thanks.

No, only the Smart Hub 2 will work with the black add-on disc.

All the home hubs are locked to BT Broadband.

You might be better asking on the Plusnet user forum, as this is the BT Retail one.

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 for Plusnet ?

If you have ADSL or FTTC then a BT Smart Hub  all models will presently work with plusnet, (Although locked to BT they also work with plusnet a BT Umbrella However they will not work with EE. ) If you buy from ebay then it is advisable to make sure that your internet password  (The same password that you connect to your member centre) does not contain any unusual characters such as $%$£@*( etc until after the firmware has updated. Also do not plug the DSL cable in until you are ready to connect  having entered your password and username@plusdsl.net.

With regards to the Mesh system it should work but may I suggest you pop over to the plusnet community forum whereby many members will help you.

see thread https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Using-the-BT-Smarthub-6-on-a-Plusnet-Account/m-p/1776465#M22...

Are you sure that its FTTC as you will not need a separate modem if it is, with  using a BT Smart Hub/Home Hub6
