Distance from fibre cabinet

Is it normal for a street of new build houses to be connected to a cabinet several miles away, even when several fibre enabled cabinets can be found much closer. Our street was built with copper wire connections and we have been unable to get fibre installed. All the nearby streets are connected to fibre cabinets.

Re: Distance from fibre cabinet

It's up to the developers of the estate as they're the ones paying for the infrastructure to be installed and Openreach will only install to the specifications they're given....

Re: Distance from fibre cabinet

Define ‘New Build’. Some guy the other day complained to me his ‘New Build’ was supposed to have FTTP as Openreach said all of them will now have it as standard.

Turns out said ‘New Build’ was built in 2008, long before Openreach started putting in FTTP as standard in New Builds.

As to why your house was Connected to that particular PCP 🤷‍ the only person(s) who will know that it the Planning Team and New Sites Rep that were involved in the Network Build of the Estate and chances are with the Restructuring Openreach have been doing the past few years and also the Redundancies they’ve been handing out sweets those people have long gone.
