Re: Extension phone socket not working

The guy was right. I connected the green and brown wires to the terminals (2 and 5) on the front plate and the extension socket now has a dial tone.

Hi does it matter whether you connect the brown or green to number 2 and 5 and is it difficult to get them connected to the numbers

@Clairec: It does not matter which way round you connect them as long as they go to terminals 2 & 5.

Re: Extension phone socket not working

Yes

it is quite common in extension socket where the incoming wires and outgoing wires to another extension are connected to same 2&5 terminals. I.e. Extensions connected in series

Re: Extension phone socket not working

@Clairec: If you are asking about the master socket there could be more than 1 pair of wires connected to terminals 2 & 5; 1 pair for each live extension in the home. I.e. Extensions connected in parallel.
