last night around 2:30am UK time I was streaming gameplay on Twitch.tv and someone came in the chat and sent me a link to show me something, I stupidly clicked on it and then 5 minutes later my whole internet shut down, I looked up the website and it was an IP logger website, so I believe they got my IP address, I reset my router around 10 minutes after this happened, just want to know if there is anything else I need to do? Can they still hack me, hack my bank details? I read online that they can hack your internet and download child pornography can they do this? If so I’ll report to police ASAP!!
please let me know
Without knowing exactly what you downloaded it is impossible to say what if anything has been installed on your computer.
You should carry out a full virus check and if you do not already have it download the free version of Malwarebytes and run a full scan.
I didn’t download anything, it was just a website link that automatically downloads my IP address to the person who sent me the link

Then that is no problem. Every website you access, including this forum, has a record of your IP address. I have a link on my website which does a similar thing when I need to provide support.
If you are in a game, then someone could try to scan your IP address to see if you have any open ports, which may have an impact on your game, like slowing it down.
If you are using a BT Home Hub, then its firewall will protect you against other incoming connection attempts.
