I am a Sky customer but I thought that since BT equipment belongs to BT then I should ask here too 🙂

the equipment belongs to openreach and as much to do with BT Retail as it has to do with SKY

No, its nothing to do with BT Retail, the sockets are the property of Openreach, so if you plan to interfere with them, you need to ask on the Sky forum, as forum members could not provide any advice, as it could be misleading, and cause problems between Sky and Openreach.

Ask on the Sky forum.
