Why is BT texting me a PIN number?

I've been trying to sort out a problem connected with BT's special offer to sell its iconic red telephone boxes for £1 - see my other thread.

When I was posting here about it, BT twice texted me this message.

"Hello, BT here. Your PIN is (nnnn)***. You'll only be able to use it once".

I haven't been asked for my PIN number so why did they text me?
