We have a BT Youview Box. When I turn on parental controls the Netflix App stops working. When I turn them off it starts working. Code it gives is UI-113. I have parental controls turned on for media streaming which I assume is causing the problem. I have that turned on to stop the kids watching youtube 24x7 when they should be doing homework.
I tried setting www.netflix.com as an allowed URL, but that didn't resolve. I think it had an impact, as before the code was nw-4-7.

Hi @NeilG2 Sorry that parental controls may be causing a problem with your Netflix service.
Check out the help page Netflix Error UI-113 and see if this helps fix this.
Cheers

Thanks, I gave that a go, but it didn't work.
The only way I can get netflix to work is to turn off BT parental controls. Then it starts working straight away.
It's also similar with BBC Iplayer. I turn of BT parental controls and it starts working again.
It's just a faf having to log in and do that to watch something on TV.
Hi @NeilG2 Thanks for checking that out and posting back.
We would like to have a deeper look into why the parental controls are blocking Netflix and the Iplayer. I've sent you a Private message explaining how you can contact the forum moderation team. check here

Hi @NeilG2 thanks for sending over your details. I'm raising this with the parental controls team to see if they have any suggestions as at the moment the parental controls are doing what they are meant to when media streaming is being selected.
If we could get the url that the apps actually use to connect to the Netflix and iPlayer servers then it may be possible to add these to the allowed list but I can't find this information on the Internet.
I'll get back in touch when I have an update.

I have just done some check with my YouView box, which is connected via a managed Ethernet switch which has port mirroring so I can intercept the traffic using Wireshark.
These seem to be the main domains requested.
netflix.com
nflxso.net
netflix.cc
I might be able to provide a listing of all the DNS requests, if I can work out how to export it from Wireshark.
Brilliant thanks for doing that @Keith_Beddoe.
@NeilG2 can you try adding those three urls to the allowed list on your parental controls settings to see if that will allow access when media streaming is blocked?

Hi Keith / Neil,
Thanks for both your responses. Keith - great idea using wireshark, had not thought of that. Will give those a go and feed back.
Neil
Here are three Wireshark screen dumps showing DNS.
