BT Set top box, older type

Recently our box has decided not to turn on when the big button on the front is pressed or with the remote. The only way I can bring it back to life is to unplug it at the mains and plug it back in giving it a hard re-boot. The remote starts working after this so I don't think it's the remote. It can be turned off again ok. Last night it just switched itself off for no apparent reason.

Do I need a new one or is there a fix?

Thanks!

Re: BT Set top box, older type

Hi @els1967 welcome to the forum and thanks for posting.

Is it one of the models on this page BT Youview box that you have?
If not do you still have BT TV and are you in a contract for the TV?

Cheers
John

Re: BT Set top box, older type

Hi John, yes it is a BT set top box, the older type. We don't have BT tv but we have always had a set top box, I think it's part of the broadband package I am on.

Re: BT Set top box, older type

Hi @els1967  thanks for getting back to me. It does sound like the box is faulty and needs to be replaced. As you do not have a BT TV subscription we cannot replace your set top box. If you would like to check out current BT TV packages please visit https://www.bt.com/tv/add/

Cheers
