BT TV options to replace Sky Q

So I've recently switched to BT for FTTP broadband, and I'm now considering ditching Sky Q TV boxes and switching everything to BT for TV as well. What are my options in an area where we can't get a decent Freeview signal? The most we can get is Freeview Lite, and even that is very patchy.

  • I have 3 cables available from a hybrid LNB on my dish, can these be used to provide the free TV channels on a BT TV box?
  • Or are all the Freeview channels available OTT via FTTP broadband instead?
  • Do BT provide any apps for TVs, Amazon Fire TV Stick, etc. for viewing on other TVs around the house? We currently have 4 TVs using Sky Q, so want to do something similar with BT TV.

Re: BT TV options to replace Sky Q

Hi @tarbat

The BT Box takes an aerial feed only for Freeview and they're not available OTT either. I used my dish to feed a Freesat box for the FTA channels. It's a bit of a faff switching boxes and remotes but it does give the ability to record up to 4 channels, albeit split 2 + 2.

There is a BT TV app but that only streams subscription channels, no FTA.

Re: BT TV options to replace Sky Q

Okay, thanks for the reply. Looks like BT TV is a non-starter for me then 😞
