Vote with your feet. If they do not provide the service or gadgets that you want to use their service move to one which does. Assuming you can find one.
Perhaps a decade ago this could/should have happened with other telephone suppliers popping up. As you get older you generally get fully set in your ways. My father does not want to leave BT as it has always been his phone provider since the old GPO days. Perhaps BT know full well that the older generation don't want to move supplier and will put up with poor TV service. I have tried suggesting alternatives but, "Lets stick with what we have got." is what my father says. Henc me being annoyed that BT don't seem to care.
Perhaps it is a perception rather than a reality that BT don't care.
Thank you for your time and effort but all these links lead only to phone solutions and not TV. Using a phone is hard but you miss that the points raised, originally, are all about TV usage. Your point about perception and reality is off the mark. If you find a BT TV solution which enables the elderly then I will be pleased.
I was pointing out that contrary to your post's main point in the title BT obviously do care about the elderly. I will not be searching for any other links.

You keep saying BT do not care, and this simply is not the case. I think you have raised a valid topic, I have spent a little time looking at what other TV providers offer in the way of accessibility for disabled customers. And none seem to offer a specialist remote control, sky do offer an easy grip but thats it. I do agree that maybe TV providers need to do more, but this is clearly across the board and not just BT.
In regards to TV functionality, again all seem to offer the same sort of features in regards to contrast, banners, subtitles and audio discription.
BT's Including you shows what as a company they offer those with a disabilty, I think you are right to raise it but maybe a letter or email to BT who will read and respond.
