Can I record live channels from Internet Mode?

Go to solution

Hi,

I want to know if I can record free to air channels that are available if I use  a BT TV Box Pro in internet mode?

Thanks,

Paul

Yes, up to 2 at a time currently, but that number may increase with future updates.

Do you have a BT TV subscription at all? If the answer is "No" then the answer is "No".

If you do the answer is “maybe”.

That's a No then 🙂
I'm looking to save money, just cancelled Sky and looking for the most economical solution to recording run of the mill programs.

Any Freeview PVR with an aerial input then, which the BT Pro box can do, but the new boxes always remain the property of BT, whereas the older versions don’t (usually).

This means they could block it or brick it in some way and it may not get needed updates. Otherwise get a Manhattan or Humax Freeview PVR.

I'm guessing you don't have a TV aerial as you're asking about IPTV. If that's the case then a FreeSat PVR will connect to your Sky dish.

Just be warned that the Freesat Arris box is awful.

You can also keep your Sky box and pay them £5 per month for Sky essentials which is the free to view channels with normal PVR functionality.

Do that for 3 years and see where you are, it’s cheaper and less hassle than buying the current Freesat box which is an absolute **bleep**.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions, I'll answer both of you in one message.

My biggest Issue is that I'm in a dodgy area for Freeview, I live in England on the Bristol Channel coast, but a large hill behind me, stops reception of English Channels, so BBC Etc is Welsh, so Freeview by Aerial is a no go.

I don't want a Humax satellite recorder as the number of catchup apps is small and diminishing rapidly.

I don't want a 4K Arris Freesat recorder as they are pants.

I don't think the Sky "Freesat Service" includes any HD channels.

If the BT box would give me access to the basic channels without an aerial, that would be perfect.

Not Sky Freesat, you need to Google “Sky TV Essentials”, I can’t link you to it due to forum rules, but it does include 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 in HD and PVR functionality for your existing Q box.

A barebones service for £5 per month, but you use what you already have.
