Can an old box be used just for Freeview.

Go to solution

Hi.

Bought a bt TV pro box.  I know have an older box which is surplus.

Is it possible to give the box if I wiped it to a family member who can use it as a Freeview box?

If I wipe the box will that mean that If the family  connected the box to the internet and went through the set up could they access my subscription channels as I don't want that to happen.

Thanks in advance

Yes, it can be used as a Freeview PVR.

No, they won't have access to your subscription channels.

Thanks for the reply.

Just thought I'd ask as when I set up my pro box the subscription channels were already there without me doing anything. Am I right in thinking that's only because the box is connected to my router which tells it which package I have?

The subscription channels are tied to your connection rather than the Hub.
