Ethernet cable

Go to solution

I have used the ethernet cable from my BT Hub to set up my BT TV. Is this a permanent fixture or can it be removed and proceed with a wi-fi connection now the TV box knows all the details?

The BT TV box - Youview - doesn't have wireless capability.

You can get these https://www.shop.bt.com/products/bt-mini-connector-kit-087372-CMS2.html?q=Mini%20connectors for £20 instead of £89.98 as an existing BTTV customer. I have been using them for 11 months now and they have worked perfectly.

‘They still use Ethernet to the BTTV box, but they can be hidden behind the TV. If your hub is in the tv area then it’s probably not worth it.

If you possibly can better to use the ethernet cable all the time even if it means getting a really long one and running it round the room under the skirting board or carpet edge.

You can buy flat Ethernet cable which can be run under doors and carpets, it’s what I used to run from BT Hub to a smart tv upstairs after WiFi signal kept breaking up the picture quality on Now TV and now it’s a strong signal on all apps
