Event overrunning

When are you going to sort out the software on your boxes so that missing the end of events no longer occurs?

Utter garbage,  useless box, useless software, no customer service/support when issues occur.

BT are the absolute pits.

Re: Event overrunning

Actually the problem is at the broadcaster end when many broadcasters including BT do not transmit the Accurate Recording signal properly that your Youview box is waiting for. Some stick strictly to the published schedule and others just get it plain wrong. I am not sure which category BT falls into.

That said, on the evidence of the Australian MotoGP recording fiasco two weeks back, an active recording does not recognise when BT make a late update to the EPG schedule but sticks to the end time as planned when the recording starts.  That *is* a bug in the Youview box firmware.

And of course, they could allow the user to preempt overrun problems by allowing them to have fixed time hammock recordings including lots of overrun contingency.  Ironically their argument against this is that the broadcasters should be using the Accurate Recording facility properly.  So, round and round we go ... 😞

Re: Event overrunning

@jam2000  I think you need to read everything that @gomezz said, not just the bit you want to read. I'll quote the important part you missed from his post:

"That said, on the evidence of the Australian MotoGP recording fiasco two weeks back, an active recording does not recognise when BT make a late update to the EPG schedule but sticks to the end time as planned when the recording starts.  That *is* a bug in the Youview box firmware".

So once a recording has already begun and the broadcaster does make the change to the epg, the software that Youview created doesn't want to recognise it, therefore it's Youview to blame as being the only provider who refuses to pay heed to that change.

Re: Event overrunning

Let's be really simple here.

1) BT are the major holder behind youview, therefore they need to sort out the product so that it is usable.

2) BT were the broadcaster of the missed event, therefore they need to sort out the ability to accurately record programs.

BT need to sort this issue out, a fancy interface with no useful functionality is of zero use.
