Failed BT box recordings

BT vision box totally failing to record anything from any channel. The lights on the front indicate the box is recording although no recording Is scheduled. Tried to reset the box but the reset procedure also failed. It seems as if the box is frozen. We can watch currently running free view channels but the red record button will not record it. 
Access to catch up tv and apps is working fine too. 
Will the box need replacing or could we try anything else?

I presume you have a BT TV Youview box rather than the old BT Vision box which has long ceased being supported.

can i check that you followed the process described here

if so at what point in the reset process did it fail or deviate from the expected result.

Thank you for replying. It’s a newish box delivered in January and worked fine until a few weeks ago.

The reset procedure failed when we turned off and on again, waited for the red light then for the message to appear, which didn’t appear at all anywhere. We seem to be stuck with the blue light on the left and red on the right.

Any ideas?
