Who on earth pays for adult channels these days, just cancel the sub's? I've come to the conclusion that it's not worth getting worked up about these problems BT is still cheaper than sky and does most of what I want.

Good luck getting a decent TV package anywhere else for what BT charge

I honestly can't fathom why all these problems have Arisen but I'm guessing they will probably be sorted out sooner or later if only to stop people whinging.

You misunderstand...I do not pay for any pornography channels whasoever, the listings still apear on my channel guide page though... doubt if kids could access them but I would have liked the facility to remove the listings from view along with all the other channels I am not subscribed to, this would make my guide more concise, a facility we all had in the last UI and one which BT/Freeeview broke with this new UI.

It's a big customer service let down from BT  really, how can they have developed such a disconnect between existing customers satisfaction and forward going strategy ? Is it desperation or just incompetence ? Grrrr

Have now had update and generally I'm happy with it. Just one problem so far which may have been mentioned previously, too many comments to go through. Before update I could send recordings to the box from my phone since update this facility does not work. Will this be corrected.

The Youview App should still work, its not part of the removed functionality. Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the phone? Works fine from my android phone. When it does work you will see that it generates empty tiles on mytv, another bug that needs fixing.

The new version has removed many items of functionality and replaced them with the feature of tiles. It smacks of an early version of software that was prematurely released.

Thanks brianhes for that. I am away from home at present which was reason for using remote recording. Will try as you suggest when I return.

On Sky the user has a login so the app signs into a server and the box does too. With YouView the app seems to have a box id and no user related sign on, so it doesn't recognise if it get's disconnected ( and hence does not tell the user) . I discovered this when I did a reset the other day. The list of devices on the box was empty however my mobile apps still thought they were registerd for remote record.

I keep saying this, but BT and YouView just need to copy Sky a bit more closely it would save them a fortune in R&D !

Minor Improvements

Go to solution

The list of recordings is now somewhat better, with 12 programmes a screen. But we do not need pictures, a text only full title screen would be much better. We don't need to see a photo, you are not advertising our recordings to us.

Deletion is a big issue, when you leave a programme if you have of the same series you are taken into the main screen. Not back the screen showing the list you have for that series. This means that you can accidentally delete the entire series thinking you are deleting the one you just watched. Having watched a programme you should be returned to the series not the main screen.

But the biggest issue remains, we cannot remove channels we do not want, this needs adressing asap.

How do you go to a specific time in a recording?

e.g. go directly to 50m of a 60m recording? Was easy before but can't manage it with the new (Dreadfully laggy and slow) software on a DTR2100.

Thanks in anticipation.

@tullyhubbert The specific time when playing a recording feature is not in the first release of Next Gen so fastForward  and/or skip are the best options currently but obvioiusly will take longer.

I would not normally expect the next gen software to be laggy & slow particularly on a DTR2100.

Are you on a slow ADSL broadband line ?

Re: Get ready for your brand-new BT TV experience

Thanks Zulu. My line is about 28-32mbps download. The box is much slower than before.

No specific time? I frequently record motorcycle racing on Eurosport and BT Sport, several races contained in 3-4 hour recordings. I only want to watch one race usually, that has meant skipping a minute at a time for 3hrs! It's tedious and my remote will surely break!!! Can hardly believe this has been ommited, am i the only person complaining?

Still, thanks for the info.
