How about this :-

Last month BT warned investors that the switch was expected to “adversely impact our net additions as some customers may choose to cease service rather than move platform.”

Yes fair dos they did say that later (in May) and of course that was after all those older box users saw the user feedback on Next Gen that had rolled out in the interim.

BT has a customer numbers issue, they probably thought that Next Gen would be a big help but fouled up by not holding the YouView development team to the basics.

You have no basis to support your statement about customer numbers. You are not considering the fact that the vast majority of users will be happy with the new interface. This forum, like all such forums, is not representative of the average customer.

No basis? Apart from this you mean:  http://informitv.com/2017/01/27/bt-approaches-1-75-million-television-homes/

"Back in 2008, BT was aiming at two to three million television customers, which still seems to be some way off."

Top tip:  instead of making personal attacks on another poster based on your wild guesses maybe it would be better to ask if they have any backing for their assertion.  Which in this case I clearly did.

So please post your evidence that "the vast majority of users will be happy with the new interface"

or was that another wild guess?

Well I refer you to the answer just posted which totally shreds that and maybe you could have a try and answer the question I posed

From your graph we can see that since 2012 YouView is the fastest growing platform year on year. Hardly a cause for commiseration and hauling YouView over the coals..

Well (a) that includes non BT YouView customers and (b) that growth was all pre 'Next Gen'

It wasn't too bad a PVR until they took key functions off it.  Now here it's been relegated to an insurance recorder.

Hi Everyone,

I am delighted to let you know that a new software version has become available to BT TV customers with Youview boxes.   This will be the first time customers will be able to experience our new BT TV, including the brand new BT Player. . .

. ..We've worked hard to make sure that this software is ready for you - most recently we've been working on making the box faster and more stable. It doesn't end there though, so keep an eye out for new updates which will come after launch based on customer feedback.

Just a thought Sean but do you ever think you might have been rather hasty marking this as 'solved'
