HD Internet Channels

Go to solution

Hi - I realise that this may seem like a dumb question but I won't let that stop me.  I have a YV box on Infinity with the entertainment pack. I'm not terribly impressed with the standard definition picture quality of the internet channels (Fox, Syfy etc).

My TV has a built in Freeview HD Tuner and the HD channels quality is superb - live and recorded.

So my question is,  if I upgrade my package to include the £3 per monh HD bolt on, will I see a similar picture quality to that of my aerial delivered Freeview HD channels?  My Infinity download speed is around 37mbps.

I Also got a Freeview HD tuner on my 22inch Samsung TV in my bedroom and have a retail Youview box pluged into it as I got the BT Youview box in living room and the HD extra channels are very good and almost as good as the HD channels via the the HD tunner on my Samsung TV.

Re: HD Internet Channels

I find the quality/ sharpness compared to freeview hd slightly better but to me the big difference is the movement. Sometimes on the freeview hd channels, the picture seems a bit jerky in panning scenes whereas the streamed ones are nice and smooth. It may be a better frame rate on the streamed channels or more compression on freeview hd? I'm not sure.
