Milticast over a switch

Hi. I'm getting youview installed on Wednesday. I use the home hub 5 but distribute traffic to a cisco switch behind my TV to share it with my playstation tv etc. Will this work if I plg in my youview box to the switch or does it need a direct home hub connection?

Re: Milticast over a switch

I use a HH5 as my router, power line adopters to get the connection downstairs and an old netgear router (acting as a switch) to distribute the connection to my TV, plusnet youview box and Apple TV.

I have no issues at all with this setup.

Re: Milticast over a switch

I have a TP-Link Gigabit switch and this has no problems piping muticast to two Youview+ boxes. I don't have anything connected directly to my Home Hub other than the switch itself. I can't speak for your Cisco switch but I'd imagine it would be fine too.

Re: Milticast over a switch

Much appreciated.. that's what I was hoping for. Otherwise it would be a real pain to deal with running an additional cable! Here's hoping for the install on Wednesday.. the engineer will have a doddle of an install!!
